Swimming Sport Advisory Committee
Event Limits: All swimmers are limited to a total of four events including alternate entries. Times recorded at this meet by Swimming Canada/Swim BC members cannot be used for Provincial or National qualification or for any team selection, as this is an unsanctioned event. Each school is allowed a maximum of two relay teams per event to qualify for the Provincial Championships.
Classification of Swimmer Categories
Swimmers will be classified as “Open/A”, “B” or “Para” swimmers according to the following criteria:
“Open/A” Swimmers are defined as:
- A student-athlete with an SNC (Swimming Natation Canada) number who competes in a Winter Swim Meet as of September 1, 2024.
- A student-athlete who trains at a Swim Academy
“B” Swimmers are defined as:
- As of January 1st, of the championship year (2025), the swimmer trains and competes from May 1st to September 1st with no restrictions
- Any student-athletes that does not fit the ‘Open/A’ swimmer definition. (Coaches are reminder that if a ‘B’ swimmer competes in any meet between September 1 and the date of the BCSS Provincial Aquatics Championship in that school year, they are no longer a ‘B’ swimmer).
Para Swimmers - definitions and information
All para swimmers must have a classification provided by an BCSS designated classifier to compete at the BCSS Provincial Championship.
Classifications for Para Swimming Competitors:
- S1-10 is for physical impairment
- S11, S12, S13 are for visual impairment
- S14 is for intellectual impairment
Note: IPC charts will be used to score S1-14 categories

- Team Registration (STARS) Deadline: October 1st, 2025
- Roster Registration (STARS) Deadline: October 15th, 2025
- Zone Championships Completed: October 31st, 2025
- Championship Registration Deadline: November 5th, 2025
- Championship Scratch Deadline: November 11th, 2025
- Scratch Deadline with no replacement or re-seeding: November 14th, 2025
